Child support enforcement has become a national epidemic, with a substantial percentage of the more than 16 million families entitled to child support payments engaged in court battles. Dawnette Lounds-Culp, a custodial mother receiving child support for her 10-year old son and author of The Face of Child Support, spent over two years in pursuit of a support order and, ultimately, enforcement of that order. While going through the process, she worked closely with the prosecutor and began researching relevant laws.  Using her personal experiences and knowledge of the system, Lounds-Culp formed PRO-YOUTH, INC., a non-profit organization whose goal is to assist custodial and noncustodial parents and their children involved in child support cases.

“I commend those noncustodial parents who pay their child support and are actively involved in their children’s lives,” Lounds-Culp said.  “They are supporting their children in a tangible and emotional way.  Unfortunately, those who choose not to pay create very real emotional and, often, financial hardships in their children’s households.  That’s when government intervention becomes necessary.”

A NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR

Are you a custodial parent or a non-custodial parent faced with the daily challenges of collecting child support, paying child support, keeping up with the changes in child support, raising or being involved with your child(ren) and trying to relate to the other parent all at the same time?  I know how difficult it is juggling your daily life.  That’s the reason for The Face of Child Support: to empower, inform, educate, and navigate you successfully through your process and well after.

Knowledge is power. And when you learn that millions of other parents are going through or have already gone through the process, your desire to do what is right for your child will be strengthened.

Many people are faced with child support for one reason or the other.  From billionaires to welfare recipients, no one is exempt.  With this in mind, information in The Face of Child Support will provide the necessary know-how to keep you on top of the game in the child support process.

If you have not yet gone through the process, are dealing with or have already gone through the procedures, The Face of Child Support is for you.  I encourage you to read through the pages and learn how both parents can be intimately involved in the child’s life.
